About Mount Ascot Merinos
Welcome to Mount Ascot Merinos and Jolly Jumbuck Poll Merino Studs. These two studs are run by the Brumpton family who have a great commitment and passion for the merino industry and now entering the fourth generation of family member involvement.
Theirs is an exciting future in the Merino industry for all the producers who have held their heads high and strived to breed the most valuable ewe of all breeds…the MERINO!
A lot of people over the last 2 decades have abandoned the Merino industry to go into alternative breeds and to produce meat alone or breeds with inferior wool. The Merinos we produce here at Mount Ascot and Jolly Jumbuck are new, exciting, easy-care, low cost of production, and whats more very profitable. The Merino is thought of as producing only wool, but the new dual purpose merino is early maturing, with great muscling, producing a large carcase and high fertility. The combination of a lustrous white, low micron fleece, with a deep bold horse shoe crimp, which is becoming highly sought after as more lower class citizens in China and other rising Nations become more affluent, and along with valuable carcass is the making of the Mount Ascot and Jolly Jumbuck genetics valuable.
